How she sleeps with... Rabya

In our new series, how she sleeps, we’ll be going under the duvet with some of our favourite women. This week, we’re kicking off with Rabya from She Flourished.

Rabya is a photographer, writer, inclusion advocate and GENE girl, Rabya. When she’s not challenging the law as an advocate for women of colour, she’s creating unique and showstopping photography for her Instagram, SheFlourished.

Tidy or messy bedroom?

If you ask my husband he’ll say he’s tidy, and I’m messy. But, generally, we keep our bedroom fairly minimal. I wanted it to be a relaxing and serene place. Despite this, we still, well, I still, have a ‘chairdrobe’.

Are you a night owl or early bird?

Out of the two, I’m more of a night owl. But, I wish there was a third option, I’m a bit like a bear - I come out at dusk.

After 5 pm, it’s like I get a burst of energy - I just want to do everything. Luckily, 5 pm is when I have to sort out the kids’ dinner and it’s the perfect time for my best ideas.

“As a creator, I have to work in the margins. I work four days a week, so, that time slot is perfect for me to start working. ”

How do you switch off?

I rarely give myself permission to switch off. I’m trying to get better at it and it’s something I’m working on. It can be a bit relentless, but, I love switching off by being creative. I’m also a huge cinephile, we have a cinema membership and I often go on my own to just have some space.

What's your bedtime routine?

On a good evening, it’s not going on TikTiok until one in the morning. I’m also big on skincare. My routine takes around 20 minutes and it’s my way of emotionally winding down. One of my I love popping on my face oil, the scent and everything is so relaxing.

I also use headspace. I’ve fallen asleep to their meditations far too many times! I also love their soundscapes, the sound of falling rain or a crackling fire. I just pop one on and I’ll be out for the count.

Rabya is wearing our new range of organic and eco-friendly silk pyjamas.

So, why are silk pyjamas the bee’s knees? Not only are they kind to the planet. But, silk is known as the “second skin”. As they’re made of a natural protein fibre the chemical structure can help maintain the metabolism of the skin’s surface and potentially improve its appearance too. Silk pyjamas are ideal for sensitive skin. You can check them out here.
